"An excellent, modern, sophisticated example of Australian Shiraz. There's vibrancy here that lifts up above the density of fruit. While profuse, they speak more of asphalt and graphite — finely wrought — than drying or powerful."
— Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate
“Pure blackberry pastille, praline, roasted walnut aromas with aniseed notes. Well concentrated and juicy with plentiful blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate flavours. Vibrant, richly flavoured and vigorous. ”

“This 2023 Old Vine Shiraz is wildly aromatic and speaks of dried herbs and wild thyme, crushed rocks and savory spices. This is hugely floral and restrained in its way—the tannins are pronounced but they work well within the wine and provide cognition and grounding for the fruit. The wine feels effortless and yet dense, powerful and yet balanced. The tannins have a woodsy cast to them, like sun-warmed cedar, pressed incense, even sandalwood. With notes of mulberry, aniseed, pressed flowers and a subtle notion of mint, it is perfumed and structured, with a finely milled texture. 14.5% alcohol. Sealed under Diam and wax. The fruit for this wine was grown on vines planted in 1939 in Blewitt Springs. In terms of winemaking, the fruit was handpicked in a single pass and
had no acid additions or adjustments, meaning the producer is heavily reliant on picking timelines. Natural acidity is important for freshness. The berries are optically sorted, destemmed and crushed, with a selection of the stems being added back in prior to natural ferment. The wines are fermented in open-top concrete fermenters and matured in older foudres for 10 months. The wines then see 12 months in glass prior to release. The Shiraz blocks were planted gradually from 1939 to 1942, after the Grenache blocks. Divided into three sections, the unirrigated Shiraz vines face the ocean and receive the benefits of the cooling ocean breezes.”

"Perfumed and floral — rose petals and graphite, sweet tobacco and tapenade. A wine of place, first and foremost, while the making seems almost in the background and rightly so. Persistent and long through the finish."
— Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate
“Medium deep colour. Attractive strawberry pastille, red cherry, musky plum aromas with hints of Americano. Aniseed notes pervade throughout giving lift and length. Supple and minerally with bangs of primary fruit.”
- Andrew Caillard, Master of Wine, The Vintage Journal

"Aromatically, the wine leads with pink grapefruit, white flowers, a hint of lychee… summer fig, white peach, pepper and brine. This is silky, precise, wide on the palate and detailed. The fruit is handpicked… allowing for more phenolic extraction from the berries."
— Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate
“Pale colour. Generous and minerally with ample grapefruit, bitter lemon flavours, an al dente grip, underlying marzipan notes, some creamy complexity and fresh long cutting acidity. Should develop along classical lines.”
